Prompt treatment initiation
After confirming HTN diagnosis, starting BP-lowering treatment is recommended, regardless of CVD risk.
Rapid BP control
BP should be treated to target within 1-3 months, to retain the confidence of the patient, to ensure long-term adherence, and to reduce CVD risk.
Frequent follow-up visits
In initiation phase (3 months), monthly follow-up to assess BP control is required. After first year, at least annual visits are recommended.
Delay treatment intensification until SBP>150mmHg increases the CV risk and mortality by 21%
